LOCAL BUSINESSMAN JOINS NATIONAL FIRM TO HELP SMALL AND MID-MARKET BUSINESSES AS CFO FOR HIRE
B2B CFO’s Part-Time Chief Financial Officer Concept Helps Entrepreneurs Connect to Top Talent at Affordable Rates and on As-Needed Basis
(Orange, Calif.), Oct. 5, 2010 — Local business owners are leveraging Orange resident Jim Ethell’s 25+ year successful track record in financial managementby hiring him as their CFO on a part-time, as-needed basis. Ethell will serve as part-time Chief Financial Officer for companies in diverse industries in the Southern California area.
The part-time/as-needed CFO role is a hallmark of B2B CFO, the nation’s largest CFO firm that provides services exclusively to emerging and mid-market companies. Ethell joined B2B CFO as a partner in August, becoming the firm’s sixth partner in the Orange County area. Nationwide, the firm has 174 Partners spanning 39 states. Ethell’s clients will benefit from his combination of executive finance and consulting experience supported by the depth of resources provided by the national firm.
Prior to joining B2B CFO, Ethell’s accomplishments include being the founding CFO for a start-up electronics company that went from start-up to $60 million in a matter of four years. Ethell also has an extensive understanding of business management systems and has led over 50 ERP system implementations during his career. He has over 25 years of varied management, finance and accounting experience as a CEO, CFO and Controller.
“We welcome Jim to the B2B CFO Partnership. In many ways he represents a snapshot of the organization: business experience and an entrepreneurial outlook, with deep roots in finance and strong connections in the community,” said Jerry L. Mills, founder of B2B CFO.
In his role as B2B CFO Partner, Ethell offers business owners of privately held growth-oriented businesses the opportunity to have an affordable trusted business advisor. Unlike a contract controller or interim CFO, a B2B CFO Partner works to create a long-term professional relationship to help the company grow its profitability and cash flow.
The economic environment for small businesses in Southern California, as in the rest of the country, has proven challenging.
“Over the past two years small businesses have had to manage economic stress that in many cases was extreme. Over the coming years they will have to manage opportunity stress. This will cause a different kind of stress on the business owners and that’s an area where my services would be an investment in their futures,” Ethell commented.
For the business owner, Ethell draws on his broad expertise in strategic planning and forecasting, budgeting through the use of “what if” models he developed, developing funding sources and debt restructuring to name a few. He also prides himself on providing effective and timely financial reporting as well as contributing to the business process improvement.
“Through B2B CFO, I am able to help multiple companies navigate through a diverse set of business and financial challenges with results that have impact,” Ethell said. “B2B CFO’s approach enables me to work economically with the client through the long term and we don’t require contracts. It ensures the owner that I provide benefits greater than my cost without long-term handcuffs.”
Ethell holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration, finance and marketing from California State University – Fullerton. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University’s Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management. He is a member of Financial Executives Networking Group, Digital CFO and Orange County Executives and Networkers and serves on the Board of Directors of Child Guidance Center of Orange County.
Ethell and his wife Sally have been married for over 30 years and have one grown son. He enjoys golf and family time in his off hours.Direct Contact information: James R. Ethell 3419 E Chapman Ave Suite 358 Orange, CA 92869 714-271-2860 email@example.com
