B2B CFO Partner Barry Tassin

Local business owners can now leverage New Orleans resident Barry Tassin’s 29-year successful track record in financial management by hiring him as their CFO on a part-time, as-needed basis. Tassin is currently serving as a part-time Chief Financial Officer for companies in diverse industries in the New Orleans metropolitan area.

The part-time, as-needed CFO role is a hallmark of B2B CFO, the nation’s largest CFO firm that provides services exclusively to emerging and mid-market companies. Tassin joined B2B CFO as a partner in October, becoming the firm’s first partner in Louisiana, specifically in the New Orleans area. Nationwide, the firm has 177 Partners spanning 39 states. Tassin’s clients will benefit from his combination of executive finance and consulting experience supported by the depth of resources provided by the national firm.

Prior to his position at B2B CFO, Tassin spent much of his career working as a CFO for a Fortune 500 company. However, his experience is not limited to large corporations, he also served as CFO in medium and small companies that earned revenues as much as $14 billion and as little as $3 million.  His industry background includes construction, real estate, and companies operating internationally. With a focus on corporate financial planning, Tassin oversaw all of the accounting and financial activities of a $500 million project that exceeded profit projections and set company records.

Additionally Tassin taught courses in accounting, finance, economics, and international business in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the University of Minnesota and the University of Phoenix.

“We welcome Barry to the B2B CFO Partnership. In many ways he represents a snapshot of the organization: business experience and an entrepreneurial outlook, with deep roots in finance and strong connections in the community,” said Jerry L. Mills, founder of B2B CFO.

In his role as B2B CFOPartner, Tassin offers business owners of privately held growth-oriented businesses the opportunity to have an affordable, trusted business advisor. Unlike a contract controller or interim CFO, a B2B CFOPartner works to create a long-term professional relationship to help the company grow its profitability and cash flow.

The economic environment for small businesses in Louisiana, as in the rest of the country, has proven challenging.

“Our local economy has been recovering from two major disasters – one man made the other by nature,” Tassin said. “A few years ago hurricane Katrina brought havoc to our lives and local business owners.  More recently, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico also affected a great number of local businesses.  Added to this is the uncertainty of the national economy and how any new tax laws and health care laws will impact the business owner.  Local business owners have two immediate needs:  Cash to pay their bills and Increased Sales.”

For the business owner, Tassin draws on his broad industry exposure in financial planning, project financing, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and business start-ups. His considerable experience in these areas enables Tassin to identify the value drivers for a business, and implement strategies to increase value and to work with the business owner to develop a successful business strategy.

Tassin has additional experience in raising capital and negotiating loans and lines of credit. He has acted as company liaison with bankers, insurance providers, attorneys, and public accounting firms to facilitate their services and ensure the timely and adequate performance of their contracted responsibilities.

“Partnering with B2B CFO enables me to tap into over 5,000 years of collective CFO experience throughout the country via B2B CFO Partners,” said Tassin. “We offer a unique service to small to medium sized companies at affordable prices.  Additionally, we can provide specific performance metrics in a given industry to compare your company’s performance and provide the guidance to improve profitability.”

Tassin is a member of CFMA (Construction and Financial Management Association). He holds a Bachelors and Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, graduating with honors.  Tassin is a native of New Orleans where he currently lives with his wife, Amy, who teaches Biology, Human Anatomy, and Physiology at a local college preparatory high school.  He is a private pilot and enjoys traveling in his spare time.
